Ariful Islam Khan, a prominent businessman of Bogra’s Dhunat Bazar, has been accused of beating him. The businessman lodged a written complaint against 11 people at Dhunat police station on Saturday afternoon.
According to the complaint, Ariful Islam Khan, son of late Nawab Ali Khan of Dhunat East Bharanshahi village, was standing in front of his younger brother Fazle Rabbi Khan’s Nawab Fashion House in Dhunat Bazar on April 13 at noon. At that time, 10-12 people attacked him and beat him up. He was later rescued by locals and admitted to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex and later to Bogra Shajimek Hospital.
Ariful Islam Khan, a businessman undergoing treatment at the hospital, said 10-12 people, including Tonic and Sumon, stormed my business establishment and vandalized it, beating me to death. At that time my younger brother Rabbi came forward to rescue me but they also beat and injured him. At that time they also snatched one and a half lakh rupees from my pocket. I became the plaintiff in the incident and filed a complaint with Dhunat police station mentioning the names of 11 people.
However, Sumon Khandaker denied the attack and said that Arif Khan was not beaten. On the contrary, it was Arif Khan who beat up my brother Sohag Khandaker and locked his business. When I protested, Arif and his brother Rabbi beat and injured my brother-in-law Sohail Rana and his cousin Tonic. In the incident, my brother-in-law’s younger brother Tapas became the plaintiff and accused Arif and his brother Rabbi and gave a statement to the police.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station Kripa Sindhu Bala said counter-complaints have been lodged with the police station over the land dispute. Necessary steps will be taken after investigating the matter.
