collision between two trains in Pakistan

OnushondhanNews Desk :

At least 51 people have been killed in a collision between two trains in Pakistan’s Sindh province. Hundreds of more people were injured. However, the rescue operation was not completed even after 24 hours of the accident. As a result, the local administration fears that the death toll could rise further.

According to a report on Geo TV, the administration has promised compensation of Rs 15 lakh per family for those killed in the accident. There were about 1,400 passengers on the two trains at the time of the accident at Ghotki in Sindh on Monday morning local time.

Ghotki ASP Umar Tufail said that after hours of trying, many bogies could not get into the rubble. They found that at least 25 people were trapped in one carriage.

Rescue work is still going on at the spot. Members of the army and paramilitary forces joined.

Railway officials said several bogies of a train derailed in the area between Raiti and Obaro stations. Shortly afterward, another speeding train pushed the derailed train, causing a terrible accident.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief over the accident and ordered an inquiry into the cause.
