US President Joe Biden has invited 40 world leaders, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to the global climate conference. The two-day conference will be held virtually on April 22 and 23.

“This will be an important milestone on the way to the UN Climate Change Conference,” a statement said on Friday.

Among the leaders invited to the conference are Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Countries like Pakistan were not invited from South Asia. Only Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotte Shering have received calls from the region.

The United Nations is due to hold a climate conference in November. Earlier, the United States announced plans for the summit. World leaders will discuss how to control climate change and make the world financially viable, and keep the environment in order.

In his invitation to the conference, Biden called on world leaders to focus on how countries can contribute to stronger climate expectations.
