Two leaders of Juba League and Chhatra League have been allegedly beaten in Bogra’s Dhunat. Anwar Hossain Taposh, brother of the Juba League leader, has lodged a written complaint with the police on Thursday.
Arif Khan, son of the late Nawab Ali Khan of East Bharanshahi village in Dhunat municipal area and joint convener of the municipal BNP Arif Khan and his brother Fazle Rabbi have been charged in the case.
Juba League leader’s brother Anwar Hossain Taposh complained, “My elder brother businessman Sohail Rana is in charge of Dhunat Upazila Juba League’s publicity secretary.” On April 13, at around 3 pm, Dhunat was walking past Sonali Bank in Bazar. During this time, due to the previous dispute, BNP leader Arif Khan and his brothers along with their men beat and stabbed my elder brother Sohail Rana.
Half an hour ago, they also beat and injured my cousin Nabiul Islam Tonik, former vice-president of Dhunat Upazila Chhatra League, over the same dispute. Later, the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Dhunat Hospital. I have lodged a written complaint against 10 unidentified persons including BNP leader Arif Khan and his brother at Dhunat police station on Thursday.
However, BNP leader Arif Khan’s brother Fazle Rabbi said, “We did not beat them.” On the contrary, they beat and injured me and my elder brother Arif Khan. We are both admitted to Bogra Shajimek Hospital. We are also preparing a case at the police station.
Dhunat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kripa Sindhu Bala said the two sides clashed over a land dispute. One party has complained with the police. Necessary steps will be taken after investigating the matter.
