Journalist Imran Hossain Emon (32) was beaten and his arm was broken by miscreants on his way home on a motorcycle after completing his professional work in Dhunte, Bogra. The incident took place on the paved road of Belkuchi village on Dhunat-Sonamukhi road around 11 pm on Tuesday. The injured Imran Hossain is the son of late Amir Hossain of Choukibari village in Emon Upazila and he is the Dhunat correspondent of the daily Jaijayadin and editor and publisher of the online news portal Anusandhan Barta and Anusandhan News.
It is reported that the president of Dhunat Model Press Club, journalist Imran Hossain Emon left for home on a motorcycle at around 11 pm on Tuesday. On the way, on the paved road of Belkuchi village on Dhunat-Sonamukhi road, journalist Emon was beaten from behind by some youths on a motorcycle and left on the road. The journalist broke Emon’s left arm and was seriously injured. Later, the locals rescued him and admitted him to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex.
Journalist Imran Hossain Emon said the miscreants suddenly attacked a motorcycle moving from behind on the way home after office work. The left wrist was broken. He said preparations were underway to file a case at the police station.
Meanwhile, Dhunat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanjay Kumar Mahanta, Dhunat Police Station OC Kripa Sindhu Bala, Dhunat Press Club President Rafiqul Alam, and other journalists and police went to Dhunat Hospital on Wednesday morning to seek treatment for Emon.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station Kripa Sindhu Bala said the incident was inspected at night. Police are already on the ground to arrest those involved in the incident.
