At least 13 people have been killed in a landslide in India’s Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district. At least 30 people are missing in the incident.
The landslide occurred on the Rekong PO-Shimla Highway in Kinnar on Wednesday (August 11) afternoon.
According to Indian media NDTV, a government bus, a truck, and several other vehicles were crushed in the landslide. The Shimla-bound bus had 40 passengers.
A government spokesman told the media, ‘25 to 30 people were buried at the scene. So far 10 people have been rescued and sent to the hospital.
State Chief Minister Joy Ram Tagore said members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been deployed at the spot.
After the accident, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to state Chief Minister Joy Ram Tagore and assured all kinds of co-operation.
