The court has granted a two-day remand to Rafiqul Islam Madani, 27, who was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police confirmed his remand on Friday.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) Shubhashish Dhar confirmed that Rafiqul Islam had been remanded for seven days and questioned by the Gazipur Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The court granted a two-day remand in response to the application.
According to the police, Rafiqul Islam Madani, a ‘baby speaker’, was arrested on April 8 in a case filed by the RAB under the Digital Security Act for making anti-state and provocative remarks. He is currently lodged in Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur.
On April 7, RAB arrested Rafiqul Islam Madani from Letirkanda, Purbadhala, Netrokona, his village home. The next day, Naib Subedar Abdul Khaleq of RAB filed a case under the Digital Security Act with Gachha Police Station in Gazipur.
